WINEMAKER NOTES | From “The God Of Cabernet” himself: Robert Foley has been focused on winemaking since 1977. With both viticulture and enology degrees from UC Davis, the founding of multiple renowned Napa Valley wineries, and 40+ vintages of 90+ point wines to his credit – these Howell Mountain wines are the Vineyard’s reserve wines, with less than 100 cases produced of each vintage.

This estate wine is single-vineyard fruit grown at 2,000 foot elevation on our property near the summit of Howell Mountain – mostly Clone 7 and Clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted in the 1990s and some planted in the 2010s.

The late ripening and longer hang-time of Mountain fruit – along with patience – produces fully ripe wines with balanced acidity, soft tannins and a rich mid-palate that are associated with thoroughly ripe blackcherry Cabernet.

TASTING NOTES | Ripe black cherry aromas and flavors accompany a flood of texture across the palate. Abundant chewy tannins frame a wealth of extract in the middle, luscious and ripe with suggestions of chocolate and berries. The natural acidity provides a very long balanced finish. This mountain Cabernet Sauvignon will continue to bottle age gracefully for many years to come.
