ABOUT THE WINEMAKER |
The vineyard is linked to a family of peasants who from a small substance farm comprising of 4 hectares of vines in 1898, gradually increased the estate to reach a vineyard of 92 hectares today. The operation is still family-owned (three generations working together) and constantly seeking to develop healthy and quality products with the doctrine of good value for money. The vineyard employs many deft people.
The vineyard is in the heart of Périgord, in the town of Pomport, extending over the slopes of the Dordogne valley, about 50 and 180 meters above sea level.
WINEMAKER NOTES | Derived from the vineyard’s finest merlot, cabernet-sauvignon and cabernet franc vines, this superb wine is aged in French Oak barrels. Cuvee du Pere Grego has an intense ruby red color offering a delicate nose where vanilla and light smoke aromas can be found. Cuvee du Pere Grego may be enjoyed on any occasion, served with an elegant dinner, or kept for a few years as a collectable.
TASTING NOTES | A complex wine because it combines the aromas of the fruit with those of the oak barrel, such as vanilla and mocha. With an intense ruby red, it gives off the aromas of dark chocolate, prunes, and even nuts. Round and generous on the palate, it is well-structured offering a long finish with dark chocolate, plum, and walnut aromas.
PAIRING NOTES | This wine is versatile and goes well with almost any dish. Particularly beef, poultry, soft cheese, pasta, grilled duck breast (a French Favorite)
