2017 Jordan – Cabernet Sauvignon (750ML)
$59.95
ORIGIN | California
GRAPE VARIETAL | 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
WINEMAKER NOTES | Winemakers often describe vintages with unusual weather as “challenging” or “unique,” but in 2017, the word used most often was “crazy.” Though it was grown under stressful conditions, the 2017 Jordan emerged as a beauty with charming weight and mature structure in its youth. A vintage that is truly a testament to the resilience of plants and humans alike.
PAIRING NOTES | The dark fruit flavors, silky palate and structure make it a lovely wine for food pairing. This wine’s elegance, acidity and spice notes complement grilled or roasted dishes, such as herb-crusted lamb, roasted chicken or grilled pork loin. The wine’s earthiness even complements vegetarian dishes, such as mushroom risotto, ratatouille or roasted root vegetables.
TASTING NOTES | Cherry, raspberry and dried herb aromas laced with hints of vanilla and tobacco. The palate has a charming weight and velvety texture filled with intense flavors of black cherries and blackberries, all elevated by a lovely backbone of spice notes from extended aging in French oak barrels. Blackberries and hints of dried herbs linger through the long, spice-kissed finish. Enjoy now after decanting for 90 minutes or cellar through 2035.
WINE ENTHUSIAST | MARCH 2022
92 points
“Earthy in composted earth and crushed rock, this elegant wine is lifted by bright red fruit and floral highlights. Plum, currant and subtle oak combine on the palate for a textured, balanced and enjoyable outcome.”
WINE & SPIRITS | DECEMBER 2021
Year’s Best U.S. Cabernets, 92 points
“Cherry kirsch and allspice introduce this wine, giving it the sensibility of a gangly adolescent. That lean and awkward moment passes as oxygen has its way with the wine, enriching it, bringing depths to its notes of exotic dried fruits, emphasizing the floral complexity of a clean young cabernet. This is destined to age with grace.”
DECANTER | SEPTEMBER 2021

“…The wine is impressively fresh, with ripe blackberry, lofty purple florals and sweet cedar aromas courtesy of ageing in 100% French oak. Fine-grained yet grippy tannins coat the full-bodied palate, packed with unctuous layers of blue and black fruits, tobacco, violets and graphite through a cocoa-dusted finish. A real standout from a challenging vintage.”
