ABOUT THE WINEMAKER | Nothing in their origins predestined them to become a family of winegrowers: Luc, engineer in computer science and applied mathematics, an executive at AIRBUS; Isabelle, master’s degree in psychology, full-time mother of their three children. It is passion, encounters, and a taste for adventure that led to the emergence of the new La Coume-Lumet a 17-hectare estate.
La Coume Lumet means “Valley of Light” a reference to the valley in which the vineyards are situated. Near Carcassonne at 1000 feet elevation at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains, with some of the highest plots, the grapes can ripen slowly without losing their freshness. The oceanic climate brings water and freshness, combined with the geographical situation (altitude and exposure) it allows to keep interesting acidities in the grapes.
