ABOUT THE WINEMAKER | Château Pertignas is located on the edge of the village of Saint Emilion and the Entre Deux Mers region. They are in a magnificent setting surrounded by valleys, old stones, forests and of course vineyards. Pierre Gauthier, a wine grower since “always,” has draw from his experience a taste for traditions, rigor and “good living”. After years in cooperative cellars with the Bordeaux wine merchants, he decided to develop his own great Bordeaux wines. In 2003, Vincent, his son, finished his wine studies and brought his enthusiasm as well as his know-how to the vineyards. The personality of the two winegrowers is reflected in their wines: authenticity, quality, festivity, frankness and generosity. Aware of the current environmental circumstances they have put in place process to lesson their footprint, helping to preserve their “working tools”. They have done this by reducing their consumption, an example being they have dug an underground quarry for storage that uses the traditional methods. They practice reasoned and sustainable viticulture implementing alternative practices in
place of chemicals. Château Pertignas wines are currently being served at Château de l’Elysée (French “White House”) and Hôtel.
