Le Roi des Pierres‘ grapes come from a prominent family in Chavignol near the Monts Damnés, the most iconic vineyard in Sancerre.

WINEMAKER NOTES | Long a favorite of France’s kings and queens, the wines of Sancerre were considered to be the finest in the entire kingdom. Le Roi des Pierres (“King of Stones”) is crafted from silex, which is referred to as “the king of all stone” and is the rarest of three terroirs found in the region, representing only 15% of the oil. Composed of flint over a clay and limestone base, silex is recognized for producing dynamic and provocative wines with an incredible ability to age.

TASTING NOTES | This Sancerre is an enchanting pale gold yellow with green hints. Concentrated aromas of citrus, passion fruit and mango seduce the senses before unveiling a structured, mineral-driven palate with a graphite finish that evokes the flint terroir of St. Gemme. Hints of licorice linger on the beautifully balanced finish that leaves a slight saline impression.
