2019 Sokol Blosser Bluebird Cuvee Brut (750ML)
$27.50
ORIGIN | Oregon
GRAPE VARIETAL | Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Chardonnay
WINEMAKER NOTES | 1970 was winding down when our founders, Bill Blosser & Susan Sokol Blosser, pulled their ’68 VW Camper up to an abandoned prune orchard, some 30 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon in the Dundee Hills. Soon after settling on this extraordinary land, they planted their first vines in 1971 and cinched their place as pioneers in what is now the epicenter of the Oregon wine industry.
Sokol Blosser’s farming, harvesting, fermenting and aging practices all play key roles in crafting high quality, elegant and age-worthy wines with a sense of place that reflect the distinctive flavors of the grapes, soil, climate, and vintage.
The Bluebird Cuvée Sparkling is designated as a Brut level of sweetness. It comes across as dry due to the bubbles and acidity in the finished wine, making a vibrant wine that dances on the palate. This sparkling wine expresses aromatics of apple blossom, lychee, and hints of white peach. The mouth feel is bright and vibrant with notes of unripe pear and lime zest. Dry on the palate, it finishes crisp with a lingering mineral flavor.
The Bluebird Cuvée label showcases Sokol Blosser’s long-time support of the Prescott Western Bluebird Recovery Project, with a pen-and-ink style image of a Western Bluebird created by artist Jared Tuttle. For more than 20 years, Sokol Blosser has offered needed shelter and support to preserve a breeding habitat for Western Bluebirds, with 15 bird houses on its organically-farmed property.
TASTING NOTES | A dry sparkling wine with notes of lychee, baguette and spiced apple cider. Finishing with crisp pear, bright acidity and fine bubbles.
