$14.73
ORIGIN | Italy
TASTING NOTES | Sparkling Red Wine: Violet, red berry and crushed herb aromas lead the nose while the juicy, fruity palate doles out wild cherry, crushed strawberry and white pepper notes. Crisp acidity lends a clean finish.
ABOUT THE WINEMAKER | Founded in 1923, Cantina di Sorbara is a pioneering cooperative representing Lambrusco DOC. Member growers, which hail from Modena, Reggio Emilia, Mantova and the area surrounding Bologna, are dedicated to producing pure, beautiful expressions of Lambrusco, such as this brut rosé lambrusco. Dedicated to the memory of Gino Friedmann, an Italian Jew who helped rescue dozens of children during WWII.
WINEMAKER NOTES | This “Homage to Gino Friedmann” was created to celebrate the life of the man whom many attribute to saving the lives of countless Jewish children in the area of Emilia-Romagna during WWII. As a person of many talents, Friedmann also practiced law very successfully for a number of years before turning his attention to farming. He would go on to become a founding member of Cantina di Carpi e Sorbara, turning his attention to growing and making Lambrusco. This wine opens with stunning notes of white pear, pink and purple flowers, that blossom into ripe raspberry and cherry. Crisp and subtle on the palate, this bubbly is pure satisfaction.
PAIRING NOTES | Pairs well with dinner with friends, Italian – pizza, pasta, or a cozy night in!
